It was dark when we reached the Beach Hunt, our place in Arugam Bay. Eva had phoned the guest-house for booking a room, and fortunately she did it, as when we arrived the place was full. We had a shock when we saw all the foreign people in the common area of the guest-house. After a couple of days meeting no other turists, it was too much for us. We were not ready for that ;-)!
All of them surfers, and of course following the surfer's style ;-) but some were nice and invite us to join them talking and drinking.
We weaked up very early, our aim was see the sunrise. As we are in the est of the island, Eva thought that could be nice. So at 5:45 h. we were ready to go to the beach which was just 2 minutes from our place. At that time it was very clear and we were alone in the beach. Well, alone, alone not exactly, as we have a dog following us all the time and very very close to us, and some more joined him later.
Except for the dogs the sunrise was perfect, but we coudn't have a bath as there were very strong waves.
Some surfers were on the sea waiting the best wave. I really admire them, it's hard work to swim against the tide and wait and wait the right wave. Some people offered us to take some classes but we didn't have time, and actually not real interest.
The lanscape was amazing as you can see in the pictures, but before 9 it was terribly hot and there was no shadow in the beach, so what to do in that place? just surfing?
Eva and me were the only turist who leaved this surfer's paradise in less than 12 hours ;-) Normally people stay there for days and weeks, even they don't visit other places in Sri Lanka. For them the paradise is Arugam bay, but we had other exciting places waiting for us ;-) See u soon travellers....
